I think I might agree with Mr Atkinson. The people who you disagree with most are often very good friends - else it would all be pretty boring really. I see this forum as a place to air ones views but, hell, its a forum, a very select one, and in the grand scheme, doesn't matter all that much. There's is no-one on here I would avoid I don't think, except perhaps that very serious dentist a while ago.

Perhaps there should be a vsurg meet up at some point. It is, as Richard Curtis said in 2004, Christmas after all.

The one thing this website has taught me above all is what an incredibly varied group of individuals vets are. There are certainly quite a number of people on here that I think I would really enjoy meeting, there are a few that I could have a cordial conversation with and agree to disagree and there are a few that I would simply loathe. Obviously the feeling is likely to be mutual!

Blimey, look at us: some poor student wants a bit of feedback to help with qualification, and we're picking holes again. I think it may not matter in the long run, provided that the student has an adequate number of replies.

And in relation to professional vs social networking sites, the acid test is whether one is or isn't picking up 'friends' (utterly ghastly - one of our VNs has 400, and claims to know them all, but I doubt if she's met 400 people in her whole 16 years). I fear I've made none on here, so it couldn't possibly be called social networking.

IMHO the survey writer needs to determine what they mean by social networking and make it explicit; I'm surprised it didn't come out in an early test-run of the survey given how quick it's been flagged as an issue?

Not necessarily; if the dissertation supervisor isn't enormously familiar with social media then it simply might not have come up.

Sorry, I cannot help because I am non-UK but, if I did participate, one answer would be that I dislike and do not use the social and business networking sites, FB, Twister, Linked-in, etc. I find them intrusive and often quite inane. I do, of course, use vetsurgeon.org which is of a very different and high standard!
