They said they could see 3 pups at 33 days and said she was definately pregnant

Re: Small animal lay scanners

the one I experienced was about 300 miles away, the dog was in the Isle of Wight, and after all of that I managed to get her pregnant several weeks after she had 'ovulated', with I must was excellent advice from Larry Roberts at Idexx, and she had just 1 very expensive puppy. icing on the cake was that she could not believe that it was just one, so keep coming back for repeated US's

Re: Small animal lay scanners

it has been my experience that I make my money after they have seen these people.

Re: Small animal lay scanners
I'd say it came under the haeding of diagnosis so under the VSA
(on benefits, no cash, etc.) Didn't see her for a few months until she dragged it in the last stages of a terminal pyo or peritonitis or whatever; HIGH fever. belly full of fluid, nastiest, dirtiest gums you'd ever seen (toxic as hell), panty breathing, the works. She couldn't understand it - her breeder friend had scanned it last week and 'everything was fine!'

So we haul in the new ultrasound machine and my trusty nurse proceeds to ---> clip the hair on the belly <----

and the owner says "what are you doing?" I explain we clip the hair for u/s, explain the reasons...

...."oh, breeder nivver did that, she never needed no clip!"

He's very good at telling breeders exactly how many pups there are and then telling them they've been "resorbed" when the numbers are drastically different. We had one bitch scanned at 50days and at that stage she had 9pups, by time of whelping we were down to 2... Could charm the birds out of the trees but dangerously lacking knowledge. But according to hte RCVS not a problem...
