Wouldn't count on it - expect at heart he subscribes to that well known Korean philosophy - 'Remember a dog is not just for Christmas - if you are careful there will be enough left over for Boxing day as well'

My sister's dog has just given me a very nice spatula with built in thermometer as a thank you present for diagnosing and treating her skin problems. All I did was suggest she try some Stronghold. It will make next year's jam making much easier, as well as the chocolates and sweeties I plan to make for Christmas presents. I'm afraid the dog won't be getting any though!

At my old practice, the vets' and VNs' pets had a secret santa, and a secret santa present opening evening (although only the dogs really attended that, the cats and rabbits sent their owners instead)

When my niece was younger she bred and owned 8 hamsters, they all had names and all sent each other Christmas cards and presents - kept her occupied for hours making and writing out 56 cards and wrapping 56 presents.

My parents are looking after my sister's dog as she is living in Australia at the moment. On the dog's birthday this year Mum baked a birthday cake for the dog from a special dog cook book and my sis sang happy birthday to her over Skype!

How about 3 cats, 1 dog, 19 chickens, 1 sheep and 3 horses all exchanging Xmas gifts.

It's a bloody nightmare !! (at least it would be if I didn't put my foot down firmly).

[/quote]My wife and I used to send Christmas presents to each other from all the pets when we first got married. Now we have children and are a long way past looking longingly into each other's eyes I'm lucky to get one from her let alone Tiddles or Fido!

One of my client's son is a vet, but lives further south hence she comes to see me sometimes. Alas, his sister is an "animal whisperer" who can talk to pets. As she lives in Canada she has to do so over the phone but the dog is still able to tell her what's wrong with him. I daren't imagine the discussions between brother and sister, she's always interfering with diagnoses and therapies....

Just think it could be worse - they could be your clients. I now realise that my mother would have been the client from hell!
