They home checked me last time. I didn't mind, we have nothing to hide and just because I'm a vet doesn't mean that I'm necessarily a perfect candidate as an owner for every dog.
Would be nice not to have to be checked too though...

Are you sure they will really want a homecheck for a vet? I got a dog from the RSPCA and although they sent someone to my flat for the homecheck, she was mortified to be there and wouldn't come over the doorstep - she just got me to sign the paperwork and left!

Hmmm, it is a bit too far. Our lurcher was a rescue dog from Wales but we were home checked, then paid for her to be transported to us. It wasn't ideal, but it did work.
If you know of anyone who will accept another rescues homecheck ( we used lurcher link), then allow a dog to be transported, then let me know.

Several rescues around here would jump for joy to see you-but I suppose it's too far If you're prepared to travel come back tome

Oh god, look at them all. Thank you Cat. Some of them aren't too old at all actually, so will have a trawl through.
We couldn't take a real oldie, the kids couldn't cope with losing another dog so close to our Old Boy, so probably 7 years would be the oldest we'd look at.

Have you heard of these guys? http://www.oldies.org.uk . They might be worth a look is you are after an older dog and they are nationwide.
