I have a lovely lady who breeds small crossbreds, she has a basic stock of chihuahuas and maltese and jack russel and yorkie dogs, and the crosses are gorgeous little pups. she sells locally which delights me, i have a thing for small mutts, and thank the lord she ain't breeding staffs. she probably has more dogs than she should but she doesn't overbreed and they are all well looked after.

We see a lovely, lively dog at our practice who looks, smells, acts and is in every way 100% Staff,,, Her owner is convinced, however, that due to some small roundish black dots which are barely visible against her white Staffie fur, that she is a Dalmatian Staff Cross.... Daffordshire Bull Terrier anyone??

No, individual clinics can have that rule (the practice I worked at in Dover did) but that was just us, apparently.

As an aside the PDSA have a one pedigree pet rule. Owner last night 'My rottweiller isn't a pedigree dog' and expected me to believe her.

We had a client with a boxer bitch that had a litter with a GSD, and they turned into beautiful dogs. They had longer noses than boxers, but still with the black masks, silky reddish coats and (thankfully) boxer-shaped hindquarters. Probably all died of cancer though!

No but my receptionist came to me yesterday and said she had a client on the phone with a staffie cross. She wanted a blood test to see what it was crossed with. I told the receptionist that such a test would cost £300, she could bring the dog in, I would look at it, take some blood, take the money then make a nice certificate on my Macbook to tell her what her dog was crossed with

Honesty then got the better of me... Im in the wrong job

We have a lovely Dog de Bordeaux X Basset Hound (Mum was DDB) She had 14pups, then sadly died the following day, so the owners hand reared every one of them themselves. A very difficult task espec for 14!

The dog is the height of a basset, with the head and feet of DDB, I'm not sure he's got the best of both breeds, but is very sweet
