Not entirely accurate.

Doctors' agreed in 2008 to work for longer and contribute more of their salaries to their pensions. They agreed to pay more, work longer and receive less, and a settlement was reached. The government now wants to renege on that pre agreed deal.

Sure, doctors are well paid and their pension pots are large and generous, but this about the government trying to back track and move the goal posts without discussion. Incidentally, while doctors contribute about 14.5 % of their salary to their pension funds, politicians only contribute 6% to theirs.

BUT the world has changed a lot since 2008. What looked sustainable and affordable then is not so now! How did your pension contributions look in 2008 and how adequate do they look now?

Well you know my view of doctors-bunch of liers who'll sign anything and don't care that they're robbing taxpayrs-and it's even more taxpayers money they now want-every penny extra in their pension pots has been taken from taxpayers GRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In a general sense i would normally agree, but the point is that doctors have realised years ago that there were going to be problems. Have taken measures to pay more, and have a sound pension fund. The government want this money. and it is that which p*sses the doctors of.......They are striking against a breach of contract.

Much as I admire doctors and the work they do it is slightly extracting the urine in the current economic climate to be going on strike to resist changes to an annual pension which is greater than many people earn when they're actually employed.

I would say significantly greater than MOST people earn when they're actually employed. I don't see them getting much sympathy from their patients.
