As far as I know they only use IVAC giving sets which actually have a dedicated fitting and soft rubber peristaltic piece which must go in the peristaltic chamber.

We got some from Meridian Medical and they were £2.62 each; do a search, there may be better offers around.

Check with the manufacturer before you invalidate any warranty; save the hassle and do a deal on the ones they recommend.

I second that. I have 5. a supplier of iv pumps at NAVC who cannot get them second hand, said that there is nothing as good anywhere and that we were very lucky to have access to so many second hand ones

Thank you - we are getting onto Animalcare about it as the Niki V4 is the same as the Heska one I have used before and it's nice to use something that I know suits our needs.

Thanks also for the Hilditch auction info in an above post too - if all else fails I'll take a closer look at more there

We use Baxter Colleague pumps - they are far more complicated than we require and cost a fortune new, but we picked up a job lot at Hilditch aucions at a knockdown price and are very pleased with them. They do need to use their owner giving sets but they're not particularly expensive. Second hand pumps are sold regularly at Hilditch so it's worth looking at their website.

Niki V4 are used by Vets Now and by the practice I'm locumming at, at the moment

You can't use any giving set through it, I'm afraid I don't know which ones as Vets Now don't stock them

They are robust and easy to use, but read the manual as you need to set the fluid remaining in the bag as it will beep incessantly if you get this wrong.

We use (& like) IVAC's and the giving sets are readily available through Centaur.

I'd be very surprised for two reasons.

1. Most work by "milking" the part of the tube fixed in the mechanism at a certain rate and if the internal diameter of the tube is different then the volume delivered will be different [you could calibrate for each giving set I suppose]

2. Stiff paediatric giving sets with thick walls and small bores can break some pumps with very expensive results, not to mention invalidating most warranties.

We have a couple of the NIKI V4 ones, rebadged by Animalcare, with whom I think some deal was done at the time based on buying their fuids & giving sets too.
