So when an actual animal welfare issue comes along the issue is just ducked?

Anyone coming from the "im in clinical, Im with you , speaking for you" camp here?

I sedate horses too.

So Jon, whats the RCVS stance on concious molar canine and feline dentals because we dont seem to see any of them, or does it not matter that the animals are so scared they freeze... After all its only a rabbit right?

Sorry. I don't approve of more regulation. So I can't support this as a blanket ban. I appreciate where you're coming from but not where you're going to. There are times when I can see some types of dental examination/simple treatments being done without a ga.

I think conscious rabbit and G pig molar dentals are the last remnants of the wellie boot era and (If you will pardon the pun) need to be kicked into touch. This is a clinical issue I feel very strongly on and I wonder where our candidates stand on this issue (many of you say you have been in clinical practice for x years so would appreciate your clinical thoughts).

Who will stand with me on my quest to get this officially frowned upon at the very least as I sharpen my axe.

No, not a full GA (except those cases that need it). But I wouldn't dream of doing anything dental to a horse without heavyish sedation (Domosedan/Torbugesic or Sedivet/Torbugesic).

I have a quiet April planned, deferred exams till next year - figured will do ECZM and RCVS together and not kill myself two years in a row!

I didn't even know it was possible to do a conscious rabbit or guinea pig molar dental! Certainly not something that would occur to me. The most I'll do conscious is shortening incisors and I'm not too keen on that.
