Went to cat behaviour talk this week so my memory has been refreshed:

first biological washing powder, to break down the proteins

then a surgical spirit to break down the volatile fatty acids

no bleach, as it contains ammonia...just like stale wee!

I agree with the idea of shutting the bedroom door to begin with at least, to break the habit.

Were I a cat I might consider a nice comfy bed in a quiet bedroom the perfect place to wee in peace. Ask if the litter tray is in the kitchen (lots human traffic and disruption) or utility room (maybe put off by noisy washing machine). Our behaviourist suggests try putting one behind the sofa, one in the bathroom and downstairs loo, and one in any other quiet room eg a rarely-used study.

Re: Suggestions for a cat pissing on owners bed

I actually used it recently on an atopic cat who just was not able take cylosporin, and my staff actually questioned if it was an order error. it's working ! and I did give full disclosure, it was that or death or rehoming.

Re: Suggestions for a cat pissing on owners bed

[quote user="Evelyn Barbour-Hill"]

Signs of 'stress' in cats can be very difficult to detect.

Quiet place for litter tray (s) to encourage use. Change litter/clean out often.

My first advice is to prevent access to the offending area but this often just shifts the problem elsewhere but this can be a useful indicator in itself!

Is it elderly cat who struggles to get into the large tray?

Is the litter a different brand which smells/feels 'wrong'?

Is there a window overlooking the tray and the cat does not like being watched?

Are there other cats which block access to the tray?

Or does the cat just not like having to eat in the loo?

Could they try a second tray elsewhere in house? Possibly in bedroom?

Good luck
