All I asked was where to have a really good, solid bit of kit fixed. I don't want a new cheap Chinese machine (copy or not!) because a couple of years down the line I will be asking if anyone knows where to have our cheap Chinese ECG machine fixed!

I cannot justify spending a thousand on a 'good' ECG machine (probably also made in China).

As long as it is cost-effective I would rather fix something rather than send it for 'recycling' in West Africa via Hampshire County Council waste disposal!

Do you believe in copyright and patent protection? The way the Chinese blatantly copy and manufacture (though in a heavily 'cost-engineered' way) goods (anything from electronic equipment to cars) from the west is reprehensible, IMHO.

Do you buy British meat to support British farmers?

I'd read Bob's comment more as the fixed good ECG machine will be as good as it was new, whereas a cheap chinese copy import may even be cheaper than the repair cost, but probably wont be as good or well build or reliable as the original? I may be worng, but my experience of cheap chinese electronic equipment (veterinary and non-veterinary) is often so. YMMV

It is clearly in a good mood today and other than some AC artifact is feeling much better!

I didn't realise that elderly electrical devices can heal themselves! I will keep Vetronic in mind when it blows a gasket again! I would rather pay someone to fix a good piece of equipment in the UK than pay someone in China to make a new machine!

I use and recommend Keith Simpson, a vet turned Electronic Enginneer, Vetronic service.

Yes, it is worth repairing.

I had mine repaired several years ago, can't remember the company but they were local I was able to take it there and collected it myself and it didn't cost very much at all. I'll try and find out more tomorrow but it may be worth giving Kallista a call.
