They came with 'deflation stickers' to attach to each balloon telling you that they should be deflated by cutting the knot off. ADULTS ONLY should do this. And 'popping is not

Re: Health and safety gone mad.

lol.

Next time you're in the supermarket, have a look at the serving instructions on a pre-made birthday cake. That's a real eye opener!

In which case, surely a warning to wear UV-A/-B certified eye protection is needed?

Re: Health and safety gone mad.

Next time you're in the supermarket, have a look at the serving instructions on a pre-made birthday cake.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1149296/Tesco-bars-girl-carrying-balloon-health-safety-risk.html [/quote]

A Tesco spokesman said: 'A restaurant near the store was handing out helium balloons. A number of children had come into the store and released them inadvertently or on purpose.

'Unfortunately they were getting trapped on the ceiling and blocking the sprinkler system, and they are pretty difficult to retrieve. The managers decided to use their discretion.

'There is not a set policy on helium balloons at the store – it's just common sense really.'

So, the only mention of "Health and Safety" comes from the Daily Mail headline writer, not Tesco's who were just trying to stop little oiks littering the store with impossible to retrieve balloons. Nothing to do with Health and Safety at all, just more Daily Mail BS.

Cheers,

Unfortunately, the company is probably being advised by a health and safety 'expert', whose continuing employment depends on demonstrating an on-going need for their services: after all, if you get mugged by a H&S advisor, and do everything they ask you to do, what on earth are they going to recommend next year? Nothing? That would be a fast-track to the dole queue. So the list of dangerous things gets longer and stupider.

And there was the woman who last year threatened to sue Sainsbury's after receiving a 'corneal abrasion' from a popping balloon. Ambulance Chasers 4U, anybody?

"I was blowing up a balloon at my child's birthday party when it popped, giving me a bit of a fright. As a result, I couldn't work for nine years and developed Seasonal Affective Disorder, which means that I have to take a lot of expensive foreign holidays. I have also developed severe allergies to being poor and claustrophobia, which means I have to live in a very large house. I didn't think anybody could help me, but then Ambulance Chasers 4U heard about my case. They got me half a million quid and now I am happy., It isn't about the money, I just wanted to highlight the problem to help other people."

Re: Health and safety gone mad.

Try this one
