I understand they can be expensive if you need a permanent vet as they generally charge a comission based on the employees salary. Are they worth the money or would I be

Re: Recruitment Agencies

[quote user="Mark Hedberg"]Speaking as a humble vet, i used Carlton Professional for my last job in practice. Surely if someone replies to a job advert they are looking to work in a practice like mine? Admittedly my ad is quite longwinded but for precisely that reason, I want the right person to apply.

Re: Recruitment Agencies

I was thinking the same thing but found that 10-12% of a permanent vet salary was a large chunk of money compared to advertising. Also presume that those candidates that are signed up to the agencies are banned from applying for jobs off their own back which I appreciate saves them the time taken to do so but surely restricts the jobs available to them.
We shortlist via email, then phone interview to decide who warrants an actual interview, and i would do the same with a candidate from a recruitment agency as I find you get a lot out of a phone conversation that often saves the time and effort of an interview.

Re: Recruitment Agencies

I would certainly add to the comments about Carlton, from whom I have sourced locum vets, but other agencies have charged a small fortune for a nurse position with no evident prescreening! I would certainly not use ana agency for permanent staff.

Re: Recruitment Agencies

I would second that.
