We have the 597s and, generally, do well with them.

As has been said, now that I have got used to them I'd hate to leave an animal on fluids for more than just a few hours without one.

I find that most of the hiccups are due to using too small a canula or poor bandaging meaning the tube kinks. The machines are pretty reliable.

Specificaly 597 and 598 or are they all as bad?

And if they are what are the best?

Is IVAC a particular brand of drip pump? If you're asking about those specifically, no idea. If you're asking about drip pumps in general, they're fantastic. Never felt the lack of one before I started working in a place that uses them routinely, and now find it very difficult to monitor inpatients on fluids without them.

Come to think of it, that may not be an entirely Good Thing

They are more attention grabbing than a 3 year old. Pain in the backside during my stint in the 'ICU' at College.
