No issues. As far as I'm aware it's just a BDML-run brand; it's only link to the PDSA being a small donation from the premium.

Re: Kwality insurance

Anyone experience of PDSA insurance?

Re: Kwality insurance

Not come across this one before but off a tangent I used to put Tesco down with E&L and Direct Line in the junk bin. However, having had several recent good direct claims experiences with them: no quibbles, very prompt payment - less than a week in one case and only 24 hours after they phoned to check if it was a continuation, they are now up in the top echelon with M&S and Pet Plan almost seeming to given the claimant the benefit of any doubt.

Re: Kwality insurance
veterinary surgeons are aware of it

we can't tell owners thanks to an unnecessarily restrictive law
Um, we can still advise on what to look for including covered items in a policy, just not give individual policy recommendations, unless I've got my reading of the FSA advice completely wrong. I'll certainly be flagging up to clients that they need to check any policy will cover a wider range of common conditions than this policy.

Re: Kwality insurance

My client had a brand new puppy. She asked my opinion and i gave it. i gave general advice - regarding what I considered was a decent level of cover, and i advised her to double check on the wording with the insurance company - I could not believe that so many restrictions were being applied - literally nothing covered but a relatively short list of possibilities!

I advised her that a policy like that was, in my opinion, worthless. i stand by that opinion - I did not give specific advice regarding another policy but did give general advice on how to choose an insurance policy.

The interesting thing is, her monthly premium was about the same as a standard supermarket policy for 12 month cover.

I don't believe that the advice I gave was contrary to FSA regulations. Perhaps we are too frightened of bureaucrats to give sensible advice on insurance? That is a pity.

Re: Kwality insurance

The problem is veterinary surgeons are aware of it-we can't tell owners thanks to an unnecessarily restrictive law

I also presume that animals insured earlier in life maintain the level of cover offered when the policy is first taken out.

If this is the case then the older pet policy offers some protection for those that otherwise would not be able to get it! Therefore not a cr*p policy but one with restrictions.

Would you insure a 12yo dog for the first time and offer to cover for arthritis? Would you insure a 14yo cat and provide cover for hyperthyroidism?

I was interested to see that the owner has to take the pet to a vet of the insurance companies choice if requested. Not sure if this is to confirm the diagnosis or for long-term care!

Re: Kwality insurance

They can't spell-and the policy seems on the same level
