Completely unapproachable so went for oral ketamine. The cat went through an excitement phase, knocked the cage over which allowed the door to come open and the cat ran off. We eventually caught it when it fell asleep on a nearby businesses driveway. Fortunately no clients saw cat running down the road closely followed by the vet.

Re: Always check your surroundings.
This year we received the news that a client of ours had been found possibly four weeks after she had died in her bath - she banged her head and drowned according to the inquest. She had a drink problem and no family.

She also had three cats, one called "Spawn of Satan". Only two were found. Both were euthanased.

Happy Xmas

We searched high and low, but didn't find it- it must have been having a nice sleep somewhere. Left the trap out and caught it again, re-anaesthetised it the the next day and finally got it neutered

Re: Always check your surroundings.
what else could possibly go wrong...
This is a veterinary practice - answer = anything and everything

I had a similar incident on call one weekend. Feral cat dropped off by CPL managed to get out of the trap, ran up several tiers of shelves - glass bottles flying everywhere including a 5 litre glass bottle of Kaogel (that stuff DOES stick - nothing shifted the splatters off the wall). Cat fell onto the floor, looked up and spotted a tiny gap in the panneling between the top and bottom row of kennels - disappeared into the bowels of the kennels. Being skinny, I managed to push the block of kennels a few inches away from wall, squeeze along the wall for a metre or two, into the increasingly small space, and grab it with a cat catcher - but it did occur to me that if I got stuck or the kennels tilted back, it was unlikely that anyone would find me until my corpse started to smell
