If you can touch your lips after that without it hurting you have scrubbed properly.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;It can be nothing other than placebo. Racing cyclists rub into their shaved legs and swear by the effects. Physiologically all it can do is inflame the skin and increase its blood supply thus logically making less blood available to the muscles and paradoxically&amp;nbsp;potentially&amp;nbsp;decreasing performance but this is offset by the placebo effect of the heat and smell which makes you think you can go faster so so will if you believe in it.&lt;/p&gt;
