The way your skin feels after deep heat rub, they probably don't need to shave their legs - the hair will just singe off!

My partner, at the time a surgeon in Mozambique, used chillies to teach her assistants to scrub properly. First rub your hands in chillies, then scrub. If you can touch your lips after that without it hurting you have scrubbed properly.

Like my mother , a former district nurse/midwife used to say the reason she liked midwifery was the patients never complained about injections hurting-nothing about the miracle of new life !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It can be nothing other than placebo. Racing cyclists rub into their shaved legs and swear by the effects. Physiologically all it can do is inflame the skin and increase its blood supply thus logically making less blood available to the muscles and paradoxically potentially decreasing performance but this is offset by the placebo effect of the heat and smell which makes you think you can go faster so so will if you believe in it.

My wife is a great fan of Tiger Balm being Thai and it goes on almost any lump or bump. I had a tick bite on my leg. The moral of the tale, there are some places other than eyes that Tiger Balm should not go. I ran screaming to the bathroom, she wet herself laughing!

A liniment has to smell powerful. People rub "Deep Heat" and stuff on themselves.

Bone Radiol was "traditional" even when I qualified.

I'd rather they use that than ask me to fire the horse.

The client who asked me about this (actually a very nice chap and happy to listen to advice, hence my willingness to investigate before telling him it's crap) tells me that the greyhound trainer who advised it warned him not to use it for more than three consecutive days otherwise the hair starts falling out...
