They are from a 4mth old JRT puppy that I think has a shunt. There are urate crystals present (the 'thorn apple' crystals but also some others that I'm not sure about. The smaller ones look a bit like

Re: More urine crystals to look at

I used the slightly rubbish camera on my phone pointed down on eyepiece. It takes a bit of patience to get it in the right position. I've used a proper digital camera, which works a lot better but that's as fancy as it gets.

Re: More urine crystals to look at

This might be a really girly question to askbut how do you get pictures of things under the microscope? Do you have a special camera for this?

Re: More urine crystals to look at

Yes, it's the urates that I'm following up re a shunt. I initially thought struvite but there are none of the typical coffin shaped crystals. I suspected that they were probably not relevant to the case but was just wondering what they were. If they are struvite they're probably there secondary to the alkaline urine.

Re: More urine crystals to look at

Urates as you say, and struvite. the struvite doesn't worry me, but the urates do. i wouldn't worry about the odd shaped cruciforms, i think they are just variations on the struvite theme.
