I guess you can justify veterinary aspirin powder for large animals, after all shoving 50 tablets down a cow's throat would be tricky!

He survived 6-odd years with some weird neuroendocrine form of pancreatic cancer - not so bad. Of course his docs feel he'd still be alive if he had taken their advice in the first place...

Plus it seems he was vouchsafed with some sort of comforting vision or truth on the way out. I find that reassuring. He was a weird guy but made lots of toys and I'm sorry he had to go so soon. I'm glad he wasn't a client though...!

It depends what you read about his condition.

One MD in the USA has stated that the form of tumour Jobs had is rarely fatal if treated with a Whipple procedure, and that because Steve Jobs delayed surgery by several months, this allowed condition to spread and become inoperable.

Was that wise? Would he have been better off if he had combined conventional and alternative medicine instead?

Who knows, but it's sad that there is a possibility that this man's death may have been hastened by his bizarre beliefs about medicine.

Truth is eternal... so I am happy to wait a bit longer.

Or, just leave it unchanged, get it licenced as a veterinary product, put it in a fancy box in blister packs, loads of glossy advertising and increase the price x100. not that I'm cynical or anything like that?

You're both way behind the door here, I challenged the pharmaceutical industry to produce a veterinary licensed aspirin as a back door to take advantage of the cascade in a letter to Vet Times about the same time as Ceva brought out Prilactone (ooh what a coincidence!). The truth is that if someone invented aspirin today it would never get past the drawing board because it has too many toxic side effects,

Nothing beats a healthy balanced diet with moderation in all aspects, not smoking, keeping fit, having a positive outlook and a sense of humour. Good genes are a bonus too! Things like aspirin and antioxidants my help 1% here and there but not all are without their downsides, you're more likely to get a duodenal ulcer from aspirin than it will save you from bowel cancer. If the day ever arrives that I'm given the dreaded news I'm not sure that I would want invasive surgery and chemotherapy unless I was guaranteed a full recovery, Steve Jobs may have been deluded with the alternative therapy but I can accept his philosophy.

I believe daily aspirin reduces the incidence of human bowel cancer-Vit C is an anti-oxidant-that's the extent of my knowledge

Maybe some "nutraceutical"( ) company should market the copper, manganese and Vitamin C and you could add your own aspirin?

So, no, no hidden agenda.

As it comes from within our profession and has some promise, we could be a little less negative perhaps!

Don't know if I would class it as alternative anyway. Look it up at Ivy Medical (or not )
