I gave the 2nd vac to a 13 week old cat last weekend from a charity and they want her spayed soon. I only go to this place once or twice a week and I could

Re: Interval between vaccination and neutering.

Just found out the cat is going to be done tomorrow by another vet.

I've never spayed a cat this young, is there any changes from the fasting point of view considering is just a kitten?

I routinely spay at 3 1/2 - 4 months and get the owners to give a very small amount of food between 6 and 7 a.m. and then feed them again as soon as they are awake post op.

Re: Interval between vaccination and neutering.

Given she is just finishing her primary course of vaccines and will be coming into a high cat environment it may be prudent to wait the official 2-3 weeks as described by your vaccine company. Not because of any specific GA risk but we ought to be as careful as a cattery about disease control (who would not accept a cat for boarding at this stage) and given its an elective procedure would wait. My other question would relate to your confidence at cat spays, Its a very young cat and I would worry about chilling if it is going to be asleep for an hour so you will need to watch this carefully. Somebody with greater experince could probably spay in in 10 minutes and have it recovering in 15 so whilst chilling is still a concern it is probably less so.
