She was diagnosied with hypothyroidism in 2005 and started on soloxine (pre-treatment thyroxine level was <2nmol/l and TSH was 2.0 ng/ml).

As far as I'm aware there has not been any change inb diet etc, but I will double check. No thyroid nodules palpable, ran routine bloods and all normal. I've decided to halve the soloxine rather than stop completely and she is coming back to see me in another month. I'll keep you posted with progress...

Re: Resolving hypothyroidism?

Interesting case Rob, results at time of treatment certainly look pretty conclusive.

Has there been any change in administration of soloxine with regard to feeding etc? Or diet change? This can have an impact on bioavailability of thyroid meds.

Any palpable thyroid nodules?

I guess if it was me I might try stopping the thyroid meds and test again to see what happens, I suppose as she is losing weight this may then have an impact on her thyroid dosing so the other thought may be to see if there is another non-thyroid reason for weight loss?
