I saw 2 sibling 18m FE GPs recently presented with masses. One has a 1.5cm firm s/c (not adherent to skin), non painful mass L axillary area, unsure how long been present

Re: Masses in guinea pigs

I would biopsy one to be safe, full surgical biopsy.

Most are lipomata, My own gp had loads of flattened discoid masses that were (I removed 1 and histoed it). Ive seen lots of GPs with the same (biopsy and histo confirmed) but would always recommend a biopsy. If there is loads of pus, go for a culture also.

Cautious FNA may be in order. Is there pus there? If not staining cells may give you a clue. The origins of the masses may be coincidence however.

One for the exotics folk perhaps!
