I had a GSD a few years ago arrive at the front door with a 7 inch foot and massively swollen leg up to the elbow. Absolutely normal above the elbow. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;This was almost certainly an adder strike. Very dramatic to see a dog flipping the foot like a flipper! This one was well in itself. &lt;/p&gt;
