Analgesia is a big thing for exotics as it is for dogs and cats. Lack of it is one of the biggest cause of anorexia and its associated secondary issues in the small herbivores, a cause of increased stress and anaesthetic problems in the birds and imo is just plain overlooked in the herps. The more the analgesia the better as far as im concerned.

Thanks.

Re: Exotic Animal Analgesia...Free download

Mind if I forward it to my colleagues? :)

Re: Exotic Animal Analgesia...Free download

Get it Laminated and put it on the wall

Re: Exotic Animal Analgesia...Free download

Thank you, very useful addition to the exotic formulary, and much quicker to look up!

If its the beak, I can hold most heads out and use rodent dental trimmers and rasps for the job. If it needs a bit of sedation, The website selld DVDs on how to achieve this (I use Alfaxan or Propofol) as well as other things. Always look in the mouth if you can to make sure there are noe caseous plaques indicative of stomatitis

Whilst I'm here could I ask your advice for the best way to trim a tortoise's beak (I haven't seen it yet but it has an appointment to 'examine mouth' so I am assuming). I imagine he is just going to retract his head as soon as I start to do anything, would you advise sevo to facilitate an examination? Any tips gratefully recieved!
