Today I saw cat with a lot of red crust on her head and ears (only outside), she is very itchy and has a lot of dark dandruff as well, but only on her head. She is DSH female about 1 year old. Her temperature at consultation room was 40

Re: cat with lion head

Our job sometimes is very mystery, like at detective novel. The owner wants answer and you must find out, like with air freshener. :)

So why I love it.

Just a thought seeing as she is an indoor cat.

Thank you for advice, Trombicula is something new for me, I would definitely look for more information about this disease. But long story short, today I phoned to the owner and sad that I need skin scraping for real diagnosis and we can't go further without it. So, with her permission I did it and have found Notoedres cati.

I start with Ivermektin injections weekly. I know that amitrasis is also effective, but it is not legal in our country.

There was no scabies in nipples or tail, just on her head region.

Only one question how she became infected if she is indoor cat.

Thank you all for help! I really appreciate it. :)

[/quote]

No, I didn't found any.

I was thinking about food allergy, but all the time she was getting the same food. She is fed by wet food sometimes with salmon, sometimes with chicken, sometimes with tuna. And there was no reaction since yet.

Yes, I am planning to take skin scrapes, but the owner wants magic without testing. So, I am planning to wait about week and to see how she goes with antibiotics and shampoo with chlorhexidine.

I am sending image from the previously cat. The view is very similar on this female cat, just crusts is on her head. And she is loosing hairs as well.

I presume you've sampled if for parasites. If the cat has predominantly an itchy scabby head, is 100% indoors, you've eliminated parasites and dermatophytes, and has had no recent contact with other cats I would think food allergy and initiate a hypoallergenic diet trial.
