One of my colleagues lost her own cat from acute heart failure recenlty. The cat lived with 2 vets and they knew she wasnt quite 100% but neither had any clue she had heart disease until the morning they woke up to find her acutely dyspnoeic.

I don't have any particular bright ideas on the puppy.

Re: Peracute cases ending in CHF cat and puppy

I had a very similar case re: cat, it was a 4 year old indoor cat no health issues, no abnormalities on cardiac ausc. No known toxin exposure. Started with acute onset painful forelimb thrombus and within 1 hour progressed to dyspnoea and euthanasia, I assumed mass thromboembolic disease as chest rads normal and post mortem exodus of fluid from the lungs. No idea why.
