I have an 8 year old dog diagnosed with a anal gland adenocarcinoma, the clients are declining surgery, is there anything that can be given to reduce the calcium levels?
I don't really want to hospitalise and drip the dog if possible

Re: canine hypercalcaemia

thank you, dog is not doing well, PTS next week!

Re: canine hypercalcaemia

Prognostically, dogs with hypercalcaemia carry the worst prognosis as these are animals with the shortest survival time - Sorry to say and I expect it has metastasised already - probably sub-clinical - Usually to sublumbar lnn first

Re: canine hypercalcaemia

Don't forget pain relief - my last case I gave tramadol as I was uneasy about giving nsaids together with frusemide for a prolonged period.
Has it metastasised to sub lumber nodes yet?
