A client presented a 5yr old male guinea pig the other day. She had noticed lumps on his lips for 'a while'. He is eating fine, the lumps don't seem to be growing or causing him any discomfort. Anyone seen these lumps before?
Those look like sebaceous cysts/abscesses. May have initially arisen from a chelitis lesion. Lipomata are also common in older pigs, I would again go for the Vit C and F10 cream initially.

Hope this helps

Re: Guinea Pig lumps
Without seeing a picture
Unusually, Catherine had posted the picture as an attachment (even I didn't know how to do that til now!), which just showed as a link. I've reposted the image now.

Catherine the best way to show a picture is to press the button that looks like a filmstrip, just above where you write your post. You then get an 'Insert Media' box, from where you can select the image from your computer, and it will embed it within your forum post, as I have now done it above.

Hope that helps.

Topical antiseptics, Vit C and analgesia if required are the way to go. I would use F10 barrier cream as it has antibacterial and antifungal properties and is safe in piggies. Metacam for analgesia helps (0.3-0.5mg/kg bid)

Changing drinker bottles to dishes etc seems to prevent them worsening but havent really found a 'cure' they don't seem to bother them overly. A colleague did try removing a set but they came back worse (?trauma of surgery?)
