She'd bought several chickens over time, and all had died

Re: Little girl's lumpy (dead) chicken

What about ALV infection - leads to rapidly growing high grade lymphoid tumours?
I was always under the impression that Marek's lumps were a little smaller and less randomly distributed. But there was nothing internally - I went in looking for evidence of nerve tumours, but didn't find a thing. Otherwise, Marek's kind of fitted the bill nicely, as all the birds were young and all died. Unfortunately, the clients weren't able to give me any clues as to previous symptoms etc.

Re: Little girl's lumpy (dead) chicken

Mareks can cause skin nodules of lymphoid-type tissue. What symptoms did the others show before they decided to die? Did you look at sciatic nerve trunk? Any internal lumps? I would try and do impression smears/histo on any remaining lumps in the fridge and look for lymphoblasts.
