I'd also wonder if there's a major benefit of doing dermatophyte culture in-house as opposed to sending it off to the lab? Rarely in practice is it performed with controlled temperature and humidity, the lab will also be able to readily identify the fungus, and it avoids the plate getting ignored over a weekend (long weekends even bigger potential issue). Also don't some M. canis not give the usual colour change? Not saying you can't get good results in house, but there are pitfalls. It is however somewhat cheaper, particularly if -ve results where no time is needed to do the microscopy.

Re: Invicta ChroMyco Duo in house fungal test

I've just ordered some from the manufacturer (meant to come throught NVS). I'll post when I've tried them out - we've got a couple of cases that would fit.

Re: Invicta ChroMyco Duo in house fungal test

Can't see it listed by Dunlops yet.

Re: Invicta ChroMyco Duo in house fungal test

HOW STRANGE I've just been looking at this today! I got a sample at Congress and haven't used it yet, not had a case which suits. I've had our lab technician look at the leaflets and she seems to think it's good.
