I've got a dwarf african bullfrog with a swollen fore limb with a small wound at the elbow, so i suspect he has cellulitis from the wound. I've put him on antibiotics. It seems quite bright and is using the leg normally. The owner seemed sure that he would manage medicating at home. So I said we would give it a couple of days and then we would get it in for xrays if it isn't improved. But maybe I'll give them a call tomorrow to see how its doing and suggest they bring it back.

Re: amphibian anti-inflammatory dose

If they can comfortably dose then yes. Usually though I would be hospitalising a case like this for medication and if finances will allow radiography of the limb to assess prognosis. Amputation may be necessary to avert a septic phib.

Do you give it orally too so the owners can do it at home?

Re: amphibian anti-inflammatory dose

Hi I go for 0.1- 0.2mg/kg i.m. once daily in amphibians the transdermal route seems to be less effective. Also I would shallow bath in F10 diluted to 1:500 as a good gentle antiseptic
