This time it is a Brtish Short Hair male cat of 13 years of age.Anorexia and weight loss.
I felt a mass and I scanned it . I couldn't quite tell if where the mass was arising from.first I thought it was the spleen but then I thought I could see

Re: Another FNA of an abdominal mass

Hi Andre

I can see ++ RBC's and neutrophils. The smaller darker cells I feel are likely naked nuclei of the larger intact granular cells. Given the ragged irregular nuclei I feel this might be artefact. The granules (presumably stained with diff quik?) do not look metachromatic but visceral mast cells in cats sometimes do not stain magenta. I feel a MCT is unlikely - could these be carcinoma cells - they are HUGE! There does seem to be poss. elevated neuts - could these be reactive mesothelial cells?

Re: Another FNA of an abdominal mass

Initially I thought they were macrophages with bacteria in them, but the much smaller cells with rounder nucleus and hardly any cytoplasm also have this inclusions.
