I'd be thinking thrombus too. You could try sticking a blood pressure monitor on the distal limbs to check for pulses in each limb, but I get the impression that the cat won't tolerate this. On a more basic level, do they feel cold to touch?

Aspirin (cheap) +/- Plavix (less cheap but fewer concerns about NSAID interactions +/- Fragmin (expensive if you don't have it in and need to buy a box) may be options to consider

Re: 8mth dsh oedema left fore and right hind

I guess you could also look at whether this has been a case of cross competitive protein binding? NSAIDs are (according to the Convenia data sheet), apparently all but contra-indicated with Convenia due to this mechanism, and I guess you could have secondary oedema due to low intravascular protein?

Possibly talking out of a hole in my head here, but if you have high enough levels of NSAID due to non-plasma protein binding, would it not be possible to have a secondary hepatic problem with consequent lack of albumins/globulins?

Re: 8mth dsh oedema left fore and right hind

feet are possibly sore but she is a feisty tortie so screams at you if you touch any foot, there was pyrexia on friday ( now normal) and she seemed sore over the op site so she had convenia and carprieve - which she had at time of the op and was fine with but I suppose a drug reaction is possible as well, feet do not look red and cellulitic and not that sore she is walking on them normally - just looks like when a bandage has been on too tight without including the foot - 2 huge feet 3 times normal size.

femoral and axillary pulses feel ok not sure if I can get close enough to detect distal pulses but I will have a go.

Re: 8mth dsh oedema left fore and right hind

Yeh sounds like a good idea there :) If its not pyrexic/marked leukocytosis I would think poss thrombosis as well?
If so maybe a thrombosis related to surgery, or a deep cellulitis?

have you done any bloods on her or just FeLV/FIV?
