Has anyone found the same for ferrets?
I have been treating a 1y.o. F ferret for earmites. It worked brilliantly the first time round (o reported complete cessation csx but didn't come back fora recheck) and no problems for 2months afterwards. Ferret lives on its own. There is a cat in the house, which has no contact with the ferret, but I've treated it with Stronghold anyway! However now ear mites evident again, definately seen on otoscopy and also on slides. o is cleaning ears daily. Canaural this time having no effect.

Has anyone any new suggestions?! I am going to go to oral/sc ivermectin weekly as my last resort... I really am at a loss as to why this won't settle. The ferret did get a new cage at some stage in this so I'm not convinced by environmental reservoir as a reason, unless I've missed something in the history. What do people recommend using for cage/equipment decontamination?

Thanks for all the advice,

It works great. I have also used advocate (the lower dose spot on), and it works. If the ferret lives with another one, remember to treat all of them. and clean and dissinfect the cage, that,s very important.

I don,t like canaural. I don,t think it,s necessary. In case pruritus is intense, you can use dexametasone at low dosage, SC. jUST ONCE.

GOOD LUCK,

My two cents.

Aludex 1:200. Repeat fortnightly if necessary.

Panacur suspension. Repeat fortnightly if necessary.
