We got them from CPC

If you use a large flat blade screwdriver and a little care you can lever the battery out and get the code. The battery was even the same brand!

I have personally used CPC and can vouch for their reliability. They are based in Preston and have a trade counter if you have an hour to spare to be served by imbeciles. I recompensed mail order!

Re: Cattle ultrasound scanners

We have 2 of older bcf scanners and one of new easi scan in plastic case. Just been charged 400 ish for new battery and charger for old scanners and same to repair one which got water in through one of ports. (word of advice make sure the plastic ports are closed when they are cleaned!) And when it arrived back still didn't work lovely to see 3 vets squabbling over 2 scanners.

The easi scan has been back several times with problem with screen. we are still waiting for new software/screen update It does work well with goggles but did pay for one with screen last spring.

thanks for advice for looking on internet for batteries do you remember which site?

Didn't know they had reps maybe should rattle their cage on customer service One of our problems is that they don't keep you updated on whats happening

Re: Cattle ultrasound scanners

I would happily give my right arm (if only I didn't scan with it) for one of the new easi-scans & bug goggles! They look so lovely and lightweight, ...total scanner envy. Unfortunately I don't do enough fertility work to be arguing for one. We have an old ghostbuster backpack easi-scan without goggles & a BCF mini-scan. Of the two I prefer the mini-scan as there seems less of it to lug around though it does have the disadvantage of the probe being attached to the screen. Don't have any experience of non-BCF servicing & repairs

Re: Cattle ultrasound scanners

As far as I remember the service costs have always been quite high. Good point about the battery replacement - a BCF tech told me about doing that at BCVA congress although I haven't needed to try it yet.

I would agree about the Bug goggles they've been excellent and really easy to use.

I also like the look of the newer battery packs and screens. Much less bulky.

Re: Cattle ultrasound scanners

We have a BCF easyscan and an old Aloka scanner. The BCF did have problems with the first goggles but the new 'bug' ones have been faultless so far.

We have found that the prices for servicing have been very expensive, cost us something like £100 for them to replace a battery + postage. When the next battery went we replaced it in less than 10 minutes with one from the internet for £20! Wouldn't know the first thing about mending the actual scanner though!

Did wonder if they were selling less due to the recession and trying to make some back on the servicing?

Re: Cattle ultrasound scanners

I've only ever used BCF and my experience has generally been quite good. I've never seen any other producers make any good on farm scanners. What models are you using? Have you spoken to your BCF rep about all this?
