Hi there, thanks for looking in. I have a 6.5year old incontinent female doberman with moderate hip dysplasia, lumboscaral stenosis and two very large lymph nodes on her right side (axillary and prescap) that I

Re: Nothing going right for this dog!

Difficulty is knowing who can be trusted-the statistics on the number of people who have tried illegal drugs is frightening

Wrote a prescription for local chemists, 10mg 20mg and 60mg tablets available. Obviously you need to be careful about the kind of person you dispense tem to and I only wrote prescription for a few days but they really made a huge difference. Thats in addition to metacam and paracetamol.

I hadn't considered morphine tablets as a home medication. Why don't we prescribe these more often instead of sending people home with syringes filled with buprenorphine? Tablets must be more convenient. Is it solely because of the dangerous drugs register or because they're not readily available from the wholesalers, or do we not trust our clients not to abuse them?

Yes we have used Cytotec in the past. Not sure whether omeprazole or ranitidine would be better or worse.

Re: Nothing going right for this dog!

[quote user="Martin Atkinson"]

I have recently dispensed oral morphine tabelts for a dog with Osteosarcoma for the very short term whilst I could organise a referral. The worked fabulously. Not something for long term management but if you need a few days to sort other issues then they are worth considering.

Where did you get the morphine tablets from?
