Ovarian hysterectomy - cleaner, safer, and quicker.

Has anyone experienced a downside to using CO2 laser in their practice?
What about radiosurgery?
I listen to Real Radio whilst operating. Is that what you mean?

It seems a shame to follow that. But anyway. I use radiosurgery a lot, mainly because there isn't the tissue drag you have with even the sharpest scalpel, but also for haemostasis. I use it for the skin incision for a cat spay, because the instrument's there and it's what I'm used to. (And I save the price of a blade ) Seriously (for a moment) I do recommend it.

Feller came round to me trying to sell me a laser (for 22 big ones as I recall). The whole sales talk revolved round palate resection and declawing cats. I figured I could manage without.

To be fair to the original advertiser (I'm feeling really magnanimous tonight): if you made an amateur video of any spay technique, it would probably look a right faff to everyone else.

I'd be modernising my choice of suture material before considering this kind of technology - can't remember when I last stitched a midline with catgut.

We´ve got a CO2 laser in our practice (in Valencia-Spain), but we doesn´t use it for OHT!!!!!! the real advantages are limited, in my opinion, to a few kinds of procedures like shoft palate in bulldogs, hepatic surgery, entropion, and of course as a "cleaner" in neoplasic surgery...but not for all!!!

Re: bloodless surgery, makes it easier - short video, is this your experience?

Definitely not tempted by this video to buy a laser
