They persistently come up positive for giardia so I suspect this is part or most of the problem. Panacur improved things a bit but the problem still lurks in the background.

tritrichomonas disintergrates after about 30-40 mins outside the body so swabs really need to be taken and looked at straight away usually can be seen under practice microscope, trichrichomonas are motile and purposeful where as giardia float around aimlessly, best to really rub swab into rectal wall but high probability of false neg better to use pcr faeces test

We have a rather rubbish attitude to 'poly-pharmacy' products here in the UK. Great combination products like this are not available!

We used to have a magic product called Neosulphentrin which was a great combination of everything good for diarrhoea. These have been relegated to history!

If the former maybe you're missing other possible causes if the latter maybe you're picking up small amounts of giardia DNA but it is not significant. In my experience, if it truly was giardiasis, the gut takes a while to recover from the insult. But make sure they're not continually re-infesting themselves from a persistant source, I've had that with cats from a multi-cat environment.

Re: Giardiosis help required!!!

make sure you give em a good long course of panacur, at least a week.......

Re: Giardiosis help required!!!

Tenazym® susp. 10 ml ( Tetracyklin, neomycin, prednisolon and trypsin, chymotrypsin, papain) (veyx pharma GmbH) 0.2 ml /1 kg.body weight.
