You can use Cyclopentate (Mydrilate is brand name) instead of atropine - see BSAVA formulary for information. Usually used in human medicine but under cascade can be used for cats and dogs. Has a prolonged action of 60 hours. I also used the atropine injectable topically while trying to find an alternative which was effective. Hope this helps!

This can depend on the pharmacist a bit - we had one who refused to supply something for the practice but supplied the same medication quite happily for a specific animal. It was because to supply the practice the pharmacist was acting as a wholesaler rather than dispensing for an individual patient

Re: Opthalmic atropine

Centaur have Minims atropine, no problem.

Re: Opthalmic atropine

Are the minims atropine tubes also unavailable?

Re: Opthalmic atropine

Brilliant, thanks :D

Re: Opthalmic atropine

You can write a prescription with your practice address.
