I am hoping someone could give me an idea of what happened with the following case! I was presented with a 3 yr old entire female Italian Spinone - she was generally in perfect health, fully vacd tho not wormed, and fed a RMB diet with no previous

Re: Respiratory arrest in young adult dog - ideas please!!

I have a couple of Spinone breeders and one of the bitches developed a spontaneous bleeding episode normal one day next unable to walk all joints swollen with blood covered in massive ecchymotic haemorrhages , fortunately survived following immunosuppressive steroids for a few weeks, and has gone on to be spayed etc all normal. I wonder if it is something in the breeding, the haematoma on the palate sounds a little strange, could that have been simply due to her asphyxiating rather than being the cause?

Re: Respiratory arrest in young adult dog - ideas please!!

How about lungworm? Could the maematemesis and haematoma have been associated with a coagulopathy?

I don't see any particular reason for lungworm to cause a haematoma on the soft palate. And I don't know why that would initially present with acute vomiting....

Just a thought.
