Any exotic bods out there know if a similar thing happens in reptiles, although I doubt it does, as I've not seen anything

Re: Eosinophilic ulcer in Water Dragon?!

I've had a similar one in a water dragon this past fortnight, upper lip looks like it has received some form of trauma, and develops granulation tissue rather like a cat as you describe Martin.

This was a rescue, so we put it down to possible thermal burn from heat source in previous viv, but have not given any treatment so far as lizard otherwise eating well and shedding normally.

Re: Eosinophilic ulcer in Water Dragon?!

The lesion started like a scab which fell off and left an eroded/ulcerated area over half its upper lip - just like a cat's eosinophilic granuloma. I reckoned it was an abrasion also especially as the owner says the dragon habitually mouths the walls of the vivarium but it has done so for ages and this lesion has only just appeared. I gave him some FiltaBac cream to apply as this is pretty inert, antiseptic and forms a barrier. I've not seen many water dragons (mostly beardies) so I was not aware this was de-riguer for the species, I was just worried it may be some disease as the O now tells me its companion has also got a small lesion.

Re: Eosinophilic ulcer in Water Dragon?!
I'm assuming it's not a "standard" water dragon abrasion from glass/walls?
That's what I would assume it is too - almost all water dragons have them!

Re: Eosinophilic ulcer in Water Dragon?!

Never seen anything like it in herps.
