As for cats - I've used it in FELV, FIV and FIP cases and been thoroughly disappointed.

Works well in some cases of FeLV and FIV anaemia, I've kept a couple of cats, that would have died within days or weeks, alive for 18 months but it doesn't work in all. Like a lot of things you're statistically stuffed if the ones you treated were the ones that were going to be failures but if like me you got the responsive ones first you'll be converted (cf my expereince with meloxicam in cats 2/6 died of renal failure so I won't use it again). Not tried it in FIP so can't comment but fantastic in kittens with acute FHV or FCV - they're asymptomatic in 3 days with or without other supportive measures. Also pretty effective in chronic herpetic conjunctivitis as eye drops and orally in early stages of FCV associated gingivitis, I've given up in chronic cases, but that was the subject a recent thread.

Re: About immunotherapy of dogs

Interesting. We don't see may parvo cases round here but had four last year. The two worst cases we treated with Virbageon Omega, one lived and one didn't. The two cases we didn't use it on also had a 50% mortality rate (not used due to cost reasons). So my personal feeling is that it hasn't lived up to the claims they make for it - but then again I don't claim my limited "case study" is anything more than personal observation!

The average from start of treatment to complete recovery was 3 days when I would have expected at least double that with normal intensive care. Best illustration is: I had 2 related dogs with confirmed CPV at 20 weeks (both vaccinated with a 10 week finish wherein lies another story!) one treated by me with Virbagen Omega and fluids etc recovered in 3 days cost owner £900, other went to RVC at owners request, not treated with Virbagen, recovery time 7 days cost £2,500!! I think that speaks for itself.

Re: About immunotherapy of dogs

Hi Martin

Just to ask - is this in confirmed cases of Parvo? I have used Virbagen Omega in confirmed cases with fairly mixed results. Admittedly I am sure that I tend to save it for the worst cases re its costs so this will skew the "results" but the success rate I've had with it has not been nearly as dramatic as some report.

Re: About immunotherapy of dogs

Not aware of this product but I have used interferon (Virbagen Omega) with good success. It is expensive but can reduce treatment time dramatically and thus actually save on other treatment/hospitalisation costs. Is it available in Lithuania?
