I have 2 cats and neither of them are insured with petplan. too expensive even with the vet discount (unfortunately I share their zoning with Chelsea and Belgravia). Although I don't have a policy with tesco (not enough cover for me... I expect insurance to cover a referral to the RVC for multiple fractures or an MRI and brain surgery... the sort of stuff I don't do in first opinion practice ...)

Seriously!??? That surprises me, first thing I say to anyone asking about insurance on an animal: there are lost of good ones out there and you have to find the right one for you, but 1. stay clear of supermarket ones as they always try to get out of paying and 2. we ALL use petplan! not the cheapest but the best one to pay out!

It seriously surprises me there are vets around that have their own animal insured with tesco??

these changes are relatively new as the numbers of Tesco lotus supermarkets has increased at a scary rate. Unfortunately dropping a few baht in the right places smooth the bureaucratic cogs.

Mind the stones in Hua Hin!!!!

I visited Thailand a couple of years ago and there were loads of Tesco superstores, indeed the only main supermarket in our local town of Hua Hin was a 'Tesco Lotus' so they must have found a way around these controls.

One is as guilty as the other as far as I am concerned in terms of farming, unethical labour etc. Until some stricter rules come in across the board for them all (and this will probably have to come from several levels, not just UK government but worldwide) then nothing is going to change. It certainly saddens me to see how farming in particular has taken such a hit from the monopoly.

£232 for an xray is impressive. Think that is per plate? How about we charge that when we have a Tesco's insured client, and just say we are going off their price guidelines. Could even knock off the odd £2.

I also liked the price for "surgery." Cos obviously there is only one type of operation! Reminds me a little of Only Fools and Horses, where Del tells his Uncle he has to go to hospital (in a mix up with some tablets with the dog if I recall rightly). When the Uncle Albert asks why he has to go, Del explains that everyone has to have an operation at some point in their life, and it is his turn!

I have my dogs insured with tescos so have to be a little careful (cheap, not time limited and cover £4000) but agree they are pervasive.

It is good to see they are hopelessly ignorant about prices - both high and low!! It is good for a laugh. It would worry me far more if they got their act together!

I would be interested to know where Tesco have gathered their information from - how many of these prices are genuine typos and how many are genuine.

I speculate that some sort of National Lottery style machine may have been involved....

Yes, their recommended fee for an overnight stay is more than Claridge's - A nice hotel with Champagne and an English breakfast, or a Kennel - I know where I would rather stay
