Maybe started when these teeth were freshly erupted.

Might be some sort of genetic disposition or congenital defect in emamel, who knows?

Or might reflect what he was chomping.

Extract, obviously. Not difficult.

Re: Dental problem (pictures in gallery)

My own Patterdale had two Molars like that when he was about that age. No idea why, rest of his teeth were sparkly, I don't know what his diet was for the first 5yrs of his life. I had him on dried food and the odd (recreational) bone to keep his teeth clean, as I did at the time.

The molars were extracted and he lived till last july when he was pts'ed at the age of 16yr. (and yes, it was quite a job to remove them, as mentioned, there was nothing wrong with the roots)

Re: Dental problem (pictures in gallery)

Looks like "caries" to me. I have usually seen it in labs and gsd's where I have most often seen it affect M1 in the maxilla.

Extraction is the only viable remedy as far as I am aware. Beware of the fact that there is usually little periodontal disease so the roots are usually healthy and therefore can be more challenging to remove.
