It's got a strong smell though, and it bleaches fabrics when the cat rubs on them.

My own cat did well with a sebolytic shampoo (Etiderm) and EFAs.

Biggest & easiest change is bowl hygiene - no plastic, put bowls through the dishwasher daily (we did this with the water & dry food bowls as well at first, though now we only do those 2-3x a week)

Hope any of this helps

RE: Dermatology-What topical treatment is best for controlling feline chin acne?

This is not really the answer to your question, but –

When i was still treating such cases I never found medication much help, although scrubbing helped with the milder ones.

What really worked was surgical treatment. A tiny (and I mean tiny) incision over every detectable affected gland, and hook or scrape out that kernel of sebum plus pus if any. Sometimes this took ages. When finished, the area looked anything from strange to horrid, but it healed very rapidly. And the interesting thing is that the condition did not recur.

So are you sure you need any treatment to prevent recurrence?
