I am now on my third. However, I am now wishing I had not traded in the second (which was working fine, but elderly and on its "secondary lease") for the third. For some reason this new improved model is horribly noisy; also, although the chamber is still nominally the same size, internal alterations mean the available space is slightly smaller, so the two containers which used to fit neatly in together now won't fit.

Moral: try it out before you pay.

Re: Autoclaves

Have an enigma now one years old and needing first service/certificate and guess what - no-one mainstream seems to know how except the people who sold it and their quote comes in at £400+ (admittedly for 2 services/yr). In terms of working the machine however - once you get past the translated Chinese that is, very simple with good fail safe system that stops machine from being started if water too low etc. reasonably quick, no steam billowing from vents as steam condensed into collecting tank which also needs periodic draining. Now need someone who can service it at reasonable cost...

Re: Autoclaves

I'm also in the market for a new autoclave and see that VetDirect have a pretty good offer at the moment with ultrasonic bath etc. included. However, I've had bad experiences with their post-sales service in the past and I'm a bit hesitant. Does anyone know if the Enigma autoclaves are quite reliable or would I get to know the repair man very well?!

Re: Autoclaves

Don't get me started on the "Written Scheme of Examination"!! Why a vet would need a copy of the service manual is beyond me.......... </rant>

We have 2 of the Prestige Century 3's and they have done fine for us. One is 2 years old, the other 3 + 1/2 years. I still have an old Little Sister as back up but nothing major. The odd thermister has gone but nothing that can't be fixed. You say you have had Prestige in the past but ours work OK. Simple to run, 2 or 3 cycles daily. Works for us.
