Wondered if anyone had any thoughts on differentials for a couple of strange episodes a patient of mine has had...
7yo FN Huntaway cross. History of suspected hip pain and anxiety/reactivity but otherwise well.

My first thought would be to ask the client to video it when it happens, think about the animal's arousal level when it has happened (if it was the same both times). My first thought was about a focal seizure for something like it. I've never heard of sudden onset bilateral Hormer's but the ptosis and globe retraction could create the appearance described. Was there any miosis too? Any toxin ingestion? Could the dog have simply walked into something with its eyes open and have reacted?

I'd recommend they go to see an ophthalmologist for a complete eye exam to rule out / in ocular causes as this will be cheaper than any imaging a neurologist would doubtless work towards.
