I'm doubting that the average case where I excise anal gland(s), which are usually neoplastic or after years of problems, would be a consideration, but interested if anyone has tried this yet in

RE: Anyone tried an inside-out anal sacculectomy or Diaz's Modified Balloon Catheter tech.?

This is interesting. I would like to try that. But surprised it can be evertrated. I thought there was quite a bit of muscles holding it in place, as I also seen when doing the open surgery. But it seems almost to easy to be true, like why have`nt anyone done it like that before.

RE: Anyone tried an inside-out anal sacculectomy?

I suspect these are young cases without much pathology.

I was surprised that an anal sac in any dog could be everted like this, however photo D would seem to stand as evidence that it may be possible.

Next technique up for discussion:

Anyone tried Diaz's modifiied balloon catheter dissection?

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6515805/

(photos in link, but for those who don't wish to click:

probe in to identify, then cut over sac lateral to anus and dissect under the duct

tie and cut this and then place foley catheter in cut end of duct with purse string around and continue dissection of remaining anal gland from there).

RE: Anyone tried an inside-out anal sacculectomy?

Never have - but how do you tell you've got it all without histo?

Seems an unnecessary "development" and the complications aren't convincing.

RE: Anyone tried an inside-out anal sacculectomy?

Nope, never tried it
