At presentation, HR was 180bpm, no arrhythmia or murmur noted but femoral pulses were weak, no deficits noted.
I suspected DCM so admitted her for an echo, no DCM but there was a heart

RE: Is there any medication that could help pulmonary artery compression caused by right atrial mass?

Update - dog lasted 3 weeks, then developed ventral pitting oedema and was put to sleep.

RE: Is there any medication that could help pulmonary artery compression caused by right atrial mass?
similar treatments to pulmonic stenosis
You'll need to speak to a cardiologist but I doubt balloon dilation would be considered but perhaps stenting might be. Pericardial effusion is also a concern with these (can be chronic) and pericardectomy could be considered.

RE: Is there any medication that could help pulmonary artery compression caused by right atrial mass?
Why would compression of pulmonary artery lead to tachycardia and weak femoral pulses?
Because the cardiac system is a closed system so what happens to the right side effects the left side, basically. If the mass causes compression of the PA then less pulmonary blood flow so less flow reaching the left side of the heart and so reflexes kick in and you get tachycardia and as less blood in each CO the femoral pulses are weak.

RE: Is there any medication that could help pulmonary artery compression caused by right atrial mass?

Sorry for the delay in replying, I've been on annual leave for the last 2 weeks and all work related things get put away!

I was thinking along the lines of similar treatments to pulmonic stenosis.
Why would compression of pulmonary artery lead to tachycardia and weak femoral pulses?

Is it possible that this is a haemangiosarcoma in right atrial wall and dog could have been weak and tachycardic due to minor bleed from splenic haemangiosrcoma?
