Not sure about much cheaper. My last W&H turbine replacement by B&A was £120 postage free. And the old had lasted a good deal more than 2 years.

Equipment firms sometimes don't know much about dental equipment. Not criticising Burtons specially, because it varies over time and seems to depend very much on who's working for the firm. One firm may be very good but when Mike in Tech. Dept. moves to another job or old Fred retires, it's all lost.
what's your lubrication / sterilisation routine,
Oh, yes, indeed. Oil every day it's used, with aerosol spray ( and the correct nozzle) Oil before autoclaving.

And – sorry about this but it has to be said – don't let your new graduates, or the senior partner, misuse them.

RE: Can you recommend hand pieces for a Burtons dental machine?

Seasky are a cheap Chinese made brand, available on eBay for half the price Burton’s charge. My first ‘Kavo’ knock-off from eBay actually lasted 5 years. The cheap ones do need a higher air pressure to work effectively than the European ones.

RE: Can you recommend hand pieces for a Burtons dental machine?
Thanks Rob and Evelyn for your help .We have previously been sold Seasky hand pieces by Burtons. After the last one stopped working we upgraded to one with an LED light but this has not lasted a year and only guaranteed for 6 months so they clearly know they stop working!
I'd dig into why they are failing and why can't be repaired - as Evelyn says it's often a case of replacing the turbine. But i'd wonder why they are failing so often - what's your lubrication / sterilisation routine, had the dental machine been properly serviced incl correct air pressures for each handpiece, any debris coming from somewhere, what burs are you using etc

They should last many many years with proper care, and the occasional bearing replacement (that will be only every few years, at the typical veterinary volume of use).

iM3 of course you get from iM3 and it's worth opening an account with them. ( iM3.co.uk )

For NSK or W&H it would best to get yourself an account with a dental supply house such as Kent Express ( kentexpress.co.uk )

Then there's BA International which apart from being an excellent repair firm does a range of what you might call "budget range but goodquality for price" low speed and high speed handpieces. I suspect they are made in China. The BA brand is often sold by dealers such as Kent Express, as well.

Incidentally, are you sure you have to replace your handpieces? Usually it's just the bearings which need replacing.

If your budget will allow, get swivel connectors for your handpieces, or at least for your high-speed turbines. You'll never want to go back to non-swivel.

Also if your budget will allow, as Rob says get handpieces with internal LED lights, for the high-speed at least. That little light really makes a difference.

RE: Can you recommend hand pieces for a Burtons dental machine?

Which handpieces and what is causing you to need to replace?

We've found NSK to always be very reliable (on our 2nd air motor and 2nd high speed handpiece in about 19 years).
I would look if you are replacing at air driven LED handpieces, as an upgrade.
