We usually order from MWI and they told us injectable Keppra has been discontinued.
We haven't found an alternative injectable levetiracetam yet, does any one have any advice please?

RE: Injectable Keppra discontinued - do you know of an alternative?
I've never needed injectable levetiracetam,
Nor have I, well I've never had it available so just had to make do with using IV diazepam +/- IV phenobarb to try to work them down into them into the middle ground between actively seizuring and too flat to swallow, do a test swallow with 5ml syringeful of water, stuff lev tablet down gob, give water chaser, give a little more more IV diazepam/pheno if necessary to keep them "down" till the lev has had a chance to work- even the oral lev seems to work quite quickly. There are some individuals that have no middle ground between actively seizuring and totally flattened but these tend to be either the toxicities or suchlike that you just have to flatten and keep flat (usually with repeat doses of IV pheno to effect) till the inciting cause hopefully wears off; or the ones whose brains are so fried they're doomed anyway (eg suspected insulinoma that O arrived home after being away all afternoon and dog was in status and had been for goodness knows how long - we flattened her and did everything we could to correct and maintain blood glucose, body temp, electrolytes etc etc but could never get her back up out of very deep sedation without seizures and ended up euthing her).

I know it's not what you asked, but might come in useful if you can't get or aren't allowed to buy the injectible prep.

RE: Injectable Keppra discontinued - do you know of an alternative?

VVS have listed Levetiracetam Vial 100mg/ml 5ml x 10 also

RE: Injectable Keppra discontinued - do you know of an alternative?

A number of brands can be seen here:
